Why would anyone buy a cook book if every recipe is free on the internet?

i buy mine at the boos store i love to cook my sister is a chef so o get a lot of recipe,s from her and i like some times just to open a book its faster for me to get in the cabinet and open a page instead of looking it up and copying it.Why would anyone buy a cook book if every recipe is free on the internet?
I buy books from my favorite cooks, because not all of their recipes are on the internet. I also buy and subscribe to Taste of Home magazine and buy cookbooks, because you cannot get every recipe on line too.

I do get a lot of my recipes on the internet, because I like the review section where you can read about other people's experience with the recipe.

I use both. Why would anyone buy a cook book if every recipe is free on the internet?
Depending on the internet can be risky... What if the sites start charging for each recipe? What if they begin charging to get into your recipe files? What if there is a power shortage and you cannot get on the internet.? What if your recipe sites get hit with a worm, trojan or virus and it wipes out all the stored recipes, recipe boxes and files? What if your favorite recipes site no longer exists? What if your computer no longer functions or goes haywire and you need to get to some of your recipes sites for dinner that day or are planning a big dinner party? also, what if your printer messes up or you are out of paper? You have to get online, look up the recipe, then copy it all down by hand . so many things can happen with the internet ,best to be cautious and always have at least 2 or 3 of your favorite cookbooks available I also have printed out many of my favorite recipes online and got a big 3 ring binder, bought a one dollar punch and made ring binder holes so the sheets fit in I have my recipes in categories for quick reference and made my own cookbook ..it is fantastic.. I also love to read cookbooks like novels I have an entire wall of cookbooks I have been collecting for over 50 years some are my Mom's and a few are very very old.. over 100years old .I love them all
Not all recipes are on the internet. Many if not most cookbooks have recipes that aren't available elsewhere. Also, if its from someone who's recipes you like, the odds are better that you will like the finished product. Last, if someone has taken the time and effort to write a cookbook that I like, why shouldn't I support them by buying it? That way, they are more likely to put out more books I like.
1) Quality control. Some books are known to have GOOD recipes. The internet is a mixed bag - anyone can write their own recipe and say it's good, even if it's a piece of junk.

2) Not every recipe in cookbooks is on the internet. In fact most aren't....

3) Just for the sake of having the book, not having to depend on the internet for your cooking.
To quote Margaret Atwood: One man's porn is another woman's cookbook....

I am addicted to online recipe sites - BUT, I read my cookbooks like novels. They are old friends that make me happy. I find I use online recipe searches when looking for something specific, I use my cookbooks for inspiration. The internet, while important, is not the'; be all end all'; of information.
I hate to print out recipes and have loads of the paper to store when trying out internet recipes if I want to use it in the kitchen otherwise I'd have to run back forth to the puter and kitchen to look at the recipes. Having the cookbook is handy and easy to store on a shelf.
Yes, I still buy cookbooks even though recipes are free on the Internet.

Example:

A cookbook that you might buy while being on vacation is a souvenir of the vacation that you took.

I have bought cookbooks while being on vacation.
If they're in a book you know they've been tried and tested, and the ingredients are in the correct measures. You don't have that guarantee with recipes on the net.
They want something they can keep in the kitchen and read whenever they want without having to turn their computer on and connect to the internet.. So, easy access?
yes, I sure do. I collect cookbooks. Have over 300. some of my faves are available online as well. But I prefer to have the hard copy
Well maybe there are people out there who have no computer.

Therefore, they have no access to the internet.
I don't buy cookbooks anymore and gave all my old ones away. Plus the ones I find online and I love - I put them in my recipe box (just in case, LOL)
because it takes more ink and paper and time to print free ones than to go ahead and buy a book
the computer might get stuff on it, have to pay for paper, wasn't out when parents had to get theirs.
in case the power goes off!!..

they can still use the BarB Q...to cook great meals.
maybe they don't have access to it
thats a vey good question i got a online site check it out and tell me what you think
